Flamingo 5K Scheduled for October 13

(Hays, Kansas – August 27, 2012)–The 3rd Annual Flamingo 5K Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, October 13.  The run/walk is being held to promote the awareness of breast cancer and all proceeds will be used to support local breast cancer programs.  The run begins at 8:30 am with registration starting at 8:00 am at the HaysMed Breast Care Center, Oak Park Complex, 2501 East 13th, Hays, Kansas.   

HaysMedBreast Care Centeralong with the HaysMed Imaging Center,  Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute and the Center for Health Improvement have joined forces to coordinate this event.  October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and the event raises awareness of the importance of women taking preventive measures and getting mammograms.

Participants are encouraged to “Pink Out” in their own personal style as well as decorate strollers, wagons, bikes etc.  Participants may also bring copies of photos to be displayed at the event as a tribute to someone affected with breast cancer.

The deadline for registering for the event is Friday, October 5.  The fee is $20 for participants 14 years and older and a free will donation is encouraged for those ages 13 and under.
