Expo Will Help Parents of Infants
Expo will help parents of infants

Families with young children will have a chance to learn about community services at the Infant Care Expo.
The fourth annual Expo is 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the hall adjacent to the gym at Hays High School, 2300 E. 13th.
"It's a forum for parents who might not know what services are available in the community," said Beth Fisher, a member of the organizing committee.
Fisher is the health services coordinator at Hays Area Children's Center
The free event is sponsored by Hays Medical Center's Women and Infant Care Center and Inpatient Pediatric Department, Hays Interagency Coordinating Council and Early Childhood Connections.
Information from local organizations and agencies on a number of topics will be available, said Fisher, a member of HICC.
HICC is "community agencies who collaborate to provide comprehensive service for families with small children."
Those attending the expo can learn about developmental screenings, baby care and health and safety issues such as infant massage and the Z49 project dealing with prenatal alcohol consumption.
There also will be information available about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, where children can get a free book every month from infant to age 5. The program supports early childhood literacy and fosters a life-long love of reading.
ECC is holding its swap meet in the high school cafeteria in conjunction with the expo. The swap meet started approximately 10 years ago for maternity clothes and infant and small children's items
