A patient navigator's responsibility is to help you work through the diagnostic workup and treatment phase of breast care in order to provide seamless services. A patient navigator ensures that all patients with suspicious findings receive follow up, timely diagnosis and treatment to achieve positive outcomes. Additionally, the patient navigator will make sure that your primary care physician will be kept informed of your present situation and plan of care. The Hays Med Breast Care Center patient navigator is A. Nicole Spray ARNP.
Noncancerous or benign breast conditions are noncancerous but can cause discomfort and require treatment. Unfortunately, many breast conditions mimic the symptoms of cancer and require tests and sometimes even biopsy to diagnose. Though the prospect of cancer is certainly scary, most biopsies find a benign breast condition instead of cancer. At the Breast Care Center, we can help you work through any abnormality you may encounter with your breasts. Common benign (noncancerous) conditions include:
- Sclerosing adenosis
- Intraductal papilloma
- Benign phyllodes tumor
