Big Creek Mud Run
HaysMed and FHSU Sponsor First Annual
Big Creek Mud Run on August 27
July , 2011
HAYS, Kansas (July 18, 2011)— HaysMed's Center for Health Improvement and Fort Hays State University are sponsoring the Big Creek Mud Run – Battle at the Fort on August 27. The mud run is a 2 mile obstacle course that winds through the Fort Hays State University Campus. Participants should be ready to "get their dirty on"; as they jump, crawl and climb through mud and other obstacles.
"The mud run is something new and different." said Stephanie Schaffer, Director of the Center for Health Improvement. "We are really excited to partner with Fort Hays State University to offer a fun, family event for people in the area. We hope to make this an annual event."
The mud run will be carried out in heats of 20 people. The first wave begins at 9:30 am and a new wave starts every 30 minutes with the last one beginning at 2:30 pm. You can run in your own wave or get your friends together and all run in the same wave.
Deadline for registering for the event is August 24th. The fee is $25 for participants and they must be 18 years and older. All participants will receive a t-shirt, participation medal and a free lunch. Live music and food will be available from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring along their families and friends.
"Having an active lifestyle is very important to the FHSU Family and Hays community." said Emily Washburn, Assistant Wellness Director at FHSU. "Getting people involved and excited about fitness is our number one goal. This event will give you the chance to challenge your fitness level and enjoy a day with friends and family. Come get your dirty on!"
