How long is my application on file?
Applications are on file for six months. We only accept applications for current open positions so it is recommended that you submit an application each time you are interested in a particular position. Many positions do have application deadlines.
Please note: We do accept positions and resumes for all professional level positions.
Does your facility have any programs available for the cost of higher education?
There is a variety of scholarships available for those entering the healthcare field plus: tuition reimbursement, nursing incentive program, and an education loan assistant program.
If I submit a resume, is that all I need to do to apply for a position?
An application must be submitted to apply for a position. We encourage a resume to be submitted with the application but it is not required for employment.
Are there any plans for development at your facility?
HMC has undergone numerous changes and additions. Recently underwent a $32 million dollar renovation project, added a 90,000 square foot Fitness/Wellness Center with indoor pool/gym, the addition of a $17 million cardiac and rehabilitation wing and also have a new trauma helicopter up and running.
What are some common mistakes candidates make when applying for a position?
It is important to provide complete information on the application. Our facility needs complete dates of employment and phone numbers in order to process your application.

What type of specialty services does your organization provide?
Hays Medical Center has a full service heart program with the guiding hand of the "father of heart surgery" Dr. Michael DeBakey. The program includes 2 full time catheterization labs, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and open-heart surgery and cardiac rehabilitation to meet the needs of a region where heart disease is twice the national average.
When is the job posting web site updated?
New open positions are posted weekly by every Wednesday. When a manager communicates with Human Resources that applications are closed and interviews are currently taking place, we will put this information under the details section. When the position is filled, the position is then deleted off the site.
Is the rate of pay listed for the position the maximum that you would be offered?
No, the range that you see under the details section is the starting range and the middle range. Salaries are based on experience and negotiable at the time of an offer.
I just submitted my application, when will I be called in for an interview?
Applications are processed and placed in a database for managers to access. When a manager has an opening, they will review all possible applicants and then select those they wish to schedule interviews with. Applicants will be contacted directly by the manager to set this appointment time up. Managers base their selection on many variables when selecting those who will be called in for an interview. Such variables are availability, experience, hours, education, certifications, neatness of application, etc.
