2016 Domestic Violence Summit To Be Held at HaysMed
“Confronting Violence in Our Communities:
Supporting Vulnerable and Underserved Populations”
(Hays, KS – October 6, 2016) – HaysMed and Options: Domestic and Sexual Violence Services will host the 2016 Domestic Violence Summit on October 18, 2016. The program is focused on Confronting Violence in Our Communities: Supporting Vulnerable and Underserved Populations. The program will be held at HaysMed in the Hadley Conference Rooms. The presentation will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with registration beginning at 7:45 am.
Topics to be covered include using multidisciplinary agencies to improve service delivery to people with disabilities, defining ability levels and working with each ability, definition and history of the Prison Rape Elimination Act, PREA implementation in Kansas facilities, PREA and the impact on communities and strengthening community collaborations, supporting a zero tolerance culture of sexual abuse.
Speakers for the symposium are Melissa Brown, KC Antiviolence Project; Kindra Burton, LMSW, Field Care Coordinator; Steve Steinhaus, Counseling, Inc.; and Lisa Copeland, PREA Coordinator, Kansas Department of Corrections.
The program is designed for RNs, LPNS, APRNs, PTs, OTs, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, Law Enforcement, Teachers, Advocates, Attorneys and other interested Healthcare professionals.
Continuing education credits will be provided by the Kansas Coalition against Sexual and Domestic Violence (KCSDV).
