HaysMed Center for Health Improvement Earns Medical Fitness Facility Re-Certification

By Gayla Wichman - HaysMed News,The Center News

HaysMed – Center for Health Improvement has achieved its second re-certification by the Medical Fitness Association, the country’s leading organization dedicated solely to medically integrated wellness and fitness facilities. This certification represents a significant step forward in improving the health of the entire community and to individuals seeking to take responsibility for their personal health.

“The re-certification truly sets us apart from the rest and defines who we are as a medical fitness facility”, says Stephanie Howie, Fitness Director.  “The medical fitness model is unique in the fact that we integrate many services, work closely with the healthcare providers, hire qualified staff and have established ourselves as a part of the hospital’s continuum of care.  We are privileged to be one of the few nationally certified facilities in the state of Kansas.”

The Medical Fitness Association Facility Certification is recognized as a mark of excellence in the health and wellness industry.  Based on the Medical Fitness Association’s internationally recognized Standards and Guidelines for Medical Fitness Facilities, the certification process involves an in-depth, on-site review of a facility’s adherence to a set of prescribed standards and guidelines. The certification process is an integral part of ensuring that facilities provide a high level of quality and safety in the programs and services they deliver in order for them to become fully integrated into the local continuum of health care.

“With the implementation of the Accountable Care Act and its impact on healthcare systems beginning to be realized, the industry is looking for better ways to provide coordinated services for the communities they serve. As the incidence of chronic disease continues to rise, the need for more medically supervised outcomes and accountability based Exercise as Medicine programs have never been more relevant in our industry than today. It is clear that moving towards a population health prevention model of care with all its necessary components and guidelines is a herculean task. HaysMed – Center for Health Improvement has taken an important step towards filling a gap in the current care delivery model. The Time is Now to implement these accountable models of health that reduce the severity of chronic disease and improve the quality of life for those who participate!” – Robert D Boone, FACHE, FMFA, President and CEO, Medical Fitness Association

Rave Reviews January 2018

By Alan Wamser - Rave Reviews

Women’s Center—OB

*Dyane did an excellent job of taking care of me after my hysterectomy! Kudos to her, Dr. Green, Jeff, Marlis, Megan, Dr. Fort and Susie in SS. They all did an excellent job and I am thankful they listened to me about my nausea after sedation, as they took good care of me and I didn’t have an ounce of queasiness when I woke up!. Thank you everyone! – And Lisa in RR.

*The nurses did an excellent job. They were very attentive and reassuring throughout. I felt we were in very good hands which helped me be more relaxed with the process. Thank you!

*Abby, RN was a great nurse to have in the labor and delivery and for the care afterwards.

*All of the nurses I and my baby had over our stay were extremely caring, kind and helpful. All of the staff who partook in my C-section surgery were as well. Thank you for having such kind and professional staff, we much appreciated it.

*We received exceptional care from everyone involved with the birth of our daughter.

*Everyone here was awesome! Our every need was met. Everyone was kind and very caring.

*Great Service!

CPCU

*Very good care!

*The service was wonderful. Everyone who I had contact with was so very kind and caring. Everyone made me feel so special and I truly feel like they all cared about my needs. Thank you kindly for everything.

*Kaylie was very kind and attentive. She also followed up with a thank you card to me.

*I was a patient in November. I am sorry I did not write down the nurses and aides who served me in my room. They were most gracious and kept saying , “If there is anything I can do, just let me know”. My wish was their command. The stay was very pleasant. I was impressed that Dr. Ko, his nurse, Kaitlyn and the anesthetist stayed by my bed for over an hour after coming of a heart cath procedures.

PT, OT and Speech

*Excellent Care, staff very caring, ordering food confusing. *Everyone was fund and helpful. Especially Joyce.

Acute Care

*To whom it may concern: While a patient at Hays Medical Center (having a small bowel obstruction), I had the opportunity to be assisted by Chad Burgardt. This young man was exceptionally courteous to me in cleaning up the mess that resulted from my inability to make it to the toilet or commode on time. I feel he would be a great candidate to encourage and support to become an RN or greater.

My nurses/CNAs were the most amazing and were the most helpful I’ve had in a facility yet. Kylie and Ashley were amazing!! They deserve a hugh pat on the back!!

ICU

*We thank the skilled staff of Hays Medical Center and are truly satisfied with the patient services from admittance to dismissal. We thank our son Kelly for his quick response from his brothers report of the aneurysm and his planning and organizing of the skilled team we had. We thank Dr. R. Toon for his blessed skilled hands and his expertise to do the AAA surgical repair. Kelly has the ultimate love and respect as friend and team partner of Dr. Toon. We thank the pre-op nurse Bridgette, so friendly, and good at her job! We thank Candice, the Anesthesiologist, for restful comfort of no pain and comforting kindness. We thank the lovely Robin for her professional kindness in caring for Dean in every big and little task needed and asked for. This all done under the Grace of God. Sincere Thanks. Dean and Diane Hedlund.

Cath Lab

*My 74 year old husband had his first heart cath today. He had the optimal experience. Everyone was prompt, courteous and friendly. Procedure went well; we were kept fully informed before, during and after. The facility is state of the art and his nurse (Stephanie) was a jewel. My husband is a kidder and a joker and she kept up with him with wit, all the while taking care of him and doing her job. Very personable. An asset to the nursing profession.

Bone, Joint and Spine Center

*I got well taken care of and my need met. I had my leg operation and the night nurse set with me. I liked the pain chart– it was good. I would stay again and tell others about the hospital. It is nice to get good meals.

Imaging—Mammography

Great bunch of people, over the top Breast Care. Thankful for this whole care facility.
