Patient Financial Responsibilities/Charity Care
Hays Medical Center is pleased to provide this information to help you understand the billing process. The patient or the guarantor is responsible for assuring that the financial obligations of his/her hospital care are fulfilled as promptly as possible. For more information about our Financial Assistance Policy click here Financial Assistance Policy.
A summary bill is mailed to the person responsible for the bill (the guarantor) for each account, and if insured, a claim is submitted to your insurance company. After all insurances have paid, a statement requesting payment of the balance will be sent to the guarantor. Payments may be made by cash, personal check, or money order. Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. If you have health insurance and feel your insurance company has not paid in accordance with your health plan, please contact your insurance company before calling Hays Medical Center. It is to your benefit to assist in the collection process from the insurance company, as unpaid bills may affect your credit standing.
