Growing up on a farm in rural Minnesota, I have a deep appreciation and respect for hard working, strong minded people with determination. This is a common thread I see woven into the fabric that ties our small towns and families together. I have always enjoyed rural medicine and have found a place to call home in western Kansas. After completing Medical School at the University of Minnesota, Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and Cardiology Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, I was ready to return to this very familiar setting. I did so in 1997 by coming to Hays where we opened the first Cardiac Catheterization Lab in western Kansas.
At what is now called The Debakey Heart Institute, we have led the way in providing heart catheterizations, angioplasties, pacemakers, and defibrillators to the people of Hays and the surrounding area. After many years of practice here, I am proud to say my goal remains the same. It is to offer the same level of cardiovascular care in Hays, Kansas that one could receive in a larger city. I consider my patients in Western Kansas family, and family always deserves the best.
