Chapel and Meditation Garden
The chapel is located in the northwest part of the hospital on the first. Floor. A lovely meditation garden is directly outside the chapel.
HaysMed is pleased to offer room service for patient meals. Upon admission, you will receive a copy of our Patient Room Service Menu. When you would like to eat, simply dial 3663 (FOOD) on your room phone to place your order using this menu. Meals will be delivered within 45 minutes. Patients who have been placed on a special diet may have restrictions on their selections. Room service is for patients only. Non-patients are encouraged to visit the cafeteria.
Family members or designees may place meal orders for patients by calling 785-623-5999. For patients who are unable to participate in patient room service and do not have a family representative available to assist them, meal selections will be made by the Nutrition services staff. Please contact Nutrition Services at extension 623-5176 with any questions.

Outdoor Walking Trail
HaysMed Fitness Trail is located on the east side of the hospital campus. The paved portion of the trail is six tenths of a mile long and there is an additional four tenth mile long grass path nature trail. Alongside this tree lined trail is a picnic shelter and play equipment. Numerous benches allow for a nice area to take a break from your walk or jog and a gazebo is located on the east side of the trail to allow for shaded cover from the sun.
The Gift Shop is staffed by our hospital volunteers. Some shifts may not be covered due to volunteer availability, but scheduled hours for the Gift Shop are as follows:
Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
All proceeds from the Gift Shop benefit Hays Medical Center projects.
Internet Access
Hays Medical Center patients and their families now have access to high-speed internet via three Wi-Fi hotspots. The access points are located in the cafeteria, surgical waiting room and ICU waiting room. In addition, two laptops are available for patients and family members during their hospital stay. The Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy helps you relax, realign and rejuvenate. There are many positive aspects to receiving massage therapy on an ongoing basis, and with the busy lives we lead, we can all benefit from a little stress-management. The experienced, professional therapists at The Center for Health Improvement provide exceptional care and will design an effective customized treatment to address your individual needs.
Guest
We invite patients who live outside of Hays, receiving outpatient services at Hays Medical Center, to Be Our Guest and stay overnight at a select hotel at the price of only $25.00/night. Patients may use this program the night before, or the day they are dismissed from having an outpatient test, procedure or inpatient stay. (Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this program to patients attending a Doctor’s Office visit only.)
There are a limited number of Be Our Guest rooms available for patients.
Vouchers are available for purchase at the Miller Pavilion Admissions Office everyday of the week from 7a-11pm.
To those who have family members who are in the hospital, we can provide a listing of hotels that offer discount rates.

Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Service strives to be a channel of peace, offering compassion and support and the healing power of God to patients, their families and hospital associates. This is done mainly through direct patient visits, the sharing of sacraments and the offering of prayer and spiritual counsel. If the patient desires, Pastoral Care will contact his or her parish, congregation or clergy person. Finally, Pastoral Care works as an integral part of the health care team to provide quality patient care.

HaysMed Visiting Hours
Visiting hours at Hays Medical Center are from 8:00 am – 8:30 pm. Many patients are in therapy sessions in the morning and afternoons so please adjust your visiting hours to coincide with the patient’s schedule.
The main entrance doors to the hospital are locked at 8:30 pm. Those include the Entrance A Bickle Pavilion/DeBakey Heart Institute, Entrance B Miller Medical Pavilion, and Entrance C Main Hospital entrance. The Emergency Room Entrance is open 24/7.
