HaysMed Nurse Achieves SANE Certification in Adult/Adolescent Care

Regan Krause, a Registered Nurse at HaysMed, has successfully completed the rigorous requirements to become certified as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) in Adult/Adolescent care. Krause, who has been a forensic nurse with the HaysMed Forensic Program for two years, exemplifies a strong commitment to the highest standards of forensic nursing and providing exceptional care to patients affected by abuse, assault, neglect, and trafficking.

The prestigious SANE-A® certification is awarded by the International Association of Forensic Nurses in collaboration with the Commission for Forensic Nursing Certification. This credential recognizes nursing professionals who demonstrate advanced expertise in caring for survivors of sexual assault. By earning this certification, Krause has showcased her comprehensive knowledge and skills in delivering trauma-informed care.

As part of the esteemed Forensic Nursing Program at HaysMed, Krause plays an essential role in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals affected by violence. The program prioritizes creating a safe, supportive environment for survivors. Krause joins her colleagues Rystal Waldman, Jessica Albers, and Trisha Haskell, who also hold SANE-A certifications, reinforcing HaysMed’s commitment to excellence and patient care in forensic nursing care.

Trisha Haskell, HaysMed Forensic Program Coordinator, praised Krause’s achievement, stating: “Regan’s dedication to her patients is unmatched. We are so fortunate to have her passion for helping people in one of their greatest times of need. Her commitment to staying at the forefront of forensic nursing and exceeding current standards of care is evidenced by this accomplishment. I am so proud of her initiative, care, and professionalism and am truly grateful to have her as part of our Forensic Program.”

The achievements of these dedicated professionals continue to elevate the standard of forensic nursing care across Kansas. Currently, there are only 40 nurses certified as SANE-A within the state.
