Congressman Tracey Mann Visits HaysMed to Explore the Future of Rural Healthcare in Western Kansas

It was an honor to welcome Congressman Tracey Mann to HaysMed last week and share how investments in rural healthcare are making a difference across western Kansas.

As healthcare costs continue to rise, HaysMed remains focused on investing strategically in technology, facilities, and services that help keep high-quality care accessible and affordable for the communities we serve.

Thanks to $2.4 million in funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program, President and CEO Eddie Herrman was able to showcase plans for a new PET/CT scanner that will support both cancer and heart patients, helping expand access to advanced imaging close to home.

Congressman Mann also toured our Hybrid Operating Room, which opened in 2025. The innovative space allows specialized heart procedures to be performed in a room that can quickly transition to a surgical environment when needed, improving efficiency and enhancing patient care.

As the only tertiary care hospital in western Kansas providing specialty care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, HaysMed plays a unique role in meeting the region’s healthcare needs. During his visit, Congressman Mann spent time learning more about the specialized services available at HaysMed, including the Emergency Department, Oncology, Orthopedics, Rehabilitation, General Surgery, and Cardiac Rehabilitation. The discussions highlighted the importance of ensuring patients across western Kansas have access to advanced care without having to travel far from their communities.

We appreciated the opportunity to share the work being done at HaysMed and the impact these investments will have on patients and families throughout western Kansas.
