Childbirth Education Class

This four week course is for expectant moms and coaches to learn more about the birth process in an enjoyable atmosphere.  Information about labor, delivery, sesarean sections and baby cares will be discussed.  Labor positions, breathing and relaxation methods are rehearsed.  Call 623-5200 to enroll.  The registration fee is $25 for the 4 week course.

Newborn Care Class

Newborn Care Class
This class will provide information and hands on activities that will help you learn to care for your newborn baby.  We will cover subjects such as bathing, diapering, cord care, safety and many other important topics.  This class is a great opportunity for you, your partner and family to prepare for the arrival of your new baby.  Call 623-5200 to enroll.  The fee is $15.

Infant CPR Classes

The AHA’s Infant CPR Anytime personal learning program offers an easy and effective training tool for new parents, grandparents, babysitters and anyone caring for an infant. It teaches the core skills of infant CPR and choking relief in about 20 minutes by using a personal kit. The kit contains everything needed to learn basic CPR and choking relief anywhere, from the comfort of home to a large community group setting.

Sibling Classes

Sibling Class
This class is a fun interactive way to help prepare children for the birht of a new baby.  A craft activity, sibling video and tour of the OB area helps your child feel more involved for the upcoming arrival of a new baby.  Parents are encouraged to attend with their child.  Call 623-5200 to enroll your child.  The fee is $10.

Meditation & Relaxation for Cancer Patients

The Meditation and Relaxation group is for anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer or who has finished treatment. When you attend the group you will be led through a guided imagery script to promote relaxation and calmness designed to aid in coping with a diagnosis of cancer.

Look Good, Feel Better

Look Good Feel Better is a free program from the American Cancer Society designed for women dealing with hair loss and skin changes from chemotherapy and radiation. You will learn specific techniques to help make the most of your appearance while undergoing treatment. Sessions are held monthly at the Dreiling/Schmidt Cancer Institute by the American Cancer Society. Call 785.623.5757 for more information.

Coffee & Conversation

Coffee and Conversation is a free quarterly program sponsored by the HaysMed DeBakey Heart Institute where you can have your heart questions answered by one of the heart specialists.  Sessions begin at 5:30 pm with a light snack followed by the roundtable discussion.
