Daisy Award
The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary care delivered by nurses every day. DAISY Award honorees personify the mission of Hays Medical Center by consistently demonstrating excellence through their clinical skills, expertise, and his/her extraordinary compassionate care.
Hays Medical Center is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing one of our nurses with this special honor quarterly.

Caring Hands PCT of the Year Award
The Caring Hands PCT of the year award was established in 2007 to recognize those caregivers that provide the most intimate care at the bedside. Criteria for the award include promotion of team work and function as a team player, contribution to customer service, and participation in community and or hospital/affairs.
Candidates are nominated by peers or managers and should be employed at HaysMed a minimum of 2 years at time of presentation.
The winner will receive recognition during Nurses Week and a monetary award.
Debra Boeken HUC of the Year Award
Established in 2008, this award honors Debra K. Boeken, Health Unit Coordinator for many years at HMC. Criteria for the award promote the values that Debra showed in her daily work. Those criteria include promotion of team work and function as a team player, excellent customer service, and participation in community and/or hospital affairs.
HealthCare Champions
The HealthCare Champion program is designed for those special moments when you would like to do more. Your gift not only recognized the people who cared for you, it directly supports the care they provide by purchasing new equipment and technology, funding continuing education and supporting new initiatives.
Lanita Smith LPN of the Year Award
The Lanita Smith LPN of the Year Award was established in 2008 to honor a Licensed Practical Nurse that possesses the qualities of Lanita. Lanita was an exemplary nurse that started as an LPN and continued her education to be a MSN at the time of her death. The winner is selected based on criteria which include job knowledge and duty performance, contribution to customer service, self-development accomplishments, and participation in community and/or hospital affairs.
Candidates for the award are nominated by their peers or managers. They should be employed at HaysMed a minimum of 2 years at the time of presentation.
The winner receives recognition during Nurses Week and a monetary award.
Sr. Mary J. Mollison Nurse of the Year Award
The Sister Mary J. Mollison Nurse of the Year award was established in 2003 to recognize the years of dedication and leadership Sr. Mary J. Mollison, RN, gave to St. Anthony Hospital and Hays Med. She served as Vice President of St. Anthony Hospital and the founding Board of Directors of Hays Med. Sr. Mollison was instrumental in the merger of the two facilities.
This is awarded yearly in March at the Hays Med Associate Service Banquet. The candidate must be a Registered Nurse employed at Hays Med a minimum of 5 years and employed at the time of presentation. The candidate may be nominated by any Hays Med Associate.
Recipients of this award receives an individually engraved award, their name will be featured on the Sr. Mary J. Mollison Nurse of the Year Award plaque displayed at the Med Center and $500.00 in cash.
