HaysMed Announces First Successful EV ICD Procedure by Dr. Gopaldas and Dr. Morgan
HaysMed is proud to announce a significant milestone in cardiac care at the DeBakey Heart Institute with the successful completion of its first ever Extravascular Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (EV ICD) procedure. This groundbreaking operation was expertly performed by Dr. Raja Gopaldas, HaysMed cardiothoracic surgeon and Dr. Jacob Morgan, an electrophysiology cardiologist at HaysMed in November.
The EV ICD procedure represents an advancement in the treatment and management of life-threatening arrhythmias (irregular heart rate or rhythm). This device is implanted outside the heart, providing a less invasive option with potentially reduced risks of vascular complications and infections.

The HaysMed DeBakey Heart Institute’s extensive Cath Lab team of healthcare professionals and cardiac anesthesiologist also assisted with the procedure.
